Your Altitude

"Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude."
Zig Ziglar

That quote is often shortened to "Your attitude determines your altitude."

Sometimes in our life, we need an attitude adjustment. We need a reminder to be thankful for what we have, or for what we have overcome. We need a reminder that our circumstances are ours by good or bad choices.

I had a friend in college who was studying to become an architect. He was complaining about life, college, and how he didn't want to be there. He was extremely intelligent, but he was unhappy.

I was trying to study for an exam, and his moaning was constantly interrupting me. I finally looked at him and said, "You're wasting your time and your parents' money by being here. You need to decide what you want to do with your life." I thought I was being harsh, but it was the kindest thing I could have said to him.

He went for a walk and came back an hour later with a smile on his face. He dropped out of college the next day and moved home.

A month later, he found a job as an aerial photographer, two things he loved to do. A year later, he became an air traffic controller. He loved it and was making more money than he would have as an architect.

He changed his circumstances, and his attitude, and it changed his altitude.

Have a great week everyone.
