Focus on the Pieces

I've worked retail management for many years. One constant across many different retailers is the easiest way to cut expenses is to cut payroll.

This leaves the remaining people to do the jobs of several people. They have to work more... Unless they focus on the problem and find a way to be more productive.

I've been fortunate to solve some of those problems in my lifetime. But I've also experienced burnout from work several times in my life as well. Even when I worked smarter, I used the extra time to do more work.

Sam Walton used to say, "Retail is detail." In other words, focus on the little pieces, then the puzzle will come together. But you have to a picture, a vision of the puzzle before you begin.

Whatever you are working on this week, visualize your big picture and then focus on the details.
